Courage for the Future
The group still holds this nature but it has taken on more of a young person’s identity and approach to various issues not just crime and safety, and anti social behaviour. The group decided on re naming the group as Courage for the Future as it is a representation of how the young people feel about the group and allows scope to explore other issues, needs, projects etc.
Launched in the Castleland Ward in partnership with Communities Focus Schools and Safer Vale neighbourhood watch, the group is now run by CYPIC in partnership with the young people and The Drop In Centre Development Trust.
The group consists of 10 core members from Catsleland Ward and the wider Barry area. The sessions consist of discussions of the issues that young people are faced with and how this group can meet there and other young people’s needs, learning various skills such as life skills etc, it is also a platform for the members to engage in volunteering opportunities within CYPIC and DIC projects and activities.
The members have already participated and assisted in community events such as a Bingo event, Table Talk Christmas dinner party, Sensory Garden and CYPIC Event (rail painting and craft day), CYPIC Easter Holiday programme.
