The Residents Panel was established in 1994 as a voluntary group who represent the Thompson Street Estate community. The Resident Panel's primary role is to act as a liaison body between the community and the estate landlords as well as developing a number of projects and activities in support of the community.

The panel's objectives are:

• To liaise between Residents and landlord
  
• To be a voice for the community
  
• To provide information and help for all Residents
  
• To run projects and activities to benefit members
• To work with partners on behalf of the community

The Resident's Panel also help to manage the Drop In Centre in collaboration with the Drop In Centre Development Trust and Avian Community Business Limited on behalf of the Thompson street estate community.
