Services

The Drop in Centre houses a collective group of organisations that cover a wide variety of interests for the community to tap into:

Day to day support:

Day to day support ranges from simple general advice/enquiries, use of telephone to more substantial support dealing with particular needs. Additionally, support is provided to Residents in acting as liaison with estate landlords and other public bodies.

Residents are also involved in projects and activities and many are community volunteers. Community volunteers use the centre regularly and often have a lead role within a specific project.(e.g.Benefit Agency, Social Services,Supported Housing etc)

Projects & Activities:

Projects and activities to be provided reflect the needs identified by the community and the Drop In Centre will continue to work with the community and partner agencies to deliver appropriate services. Based on principles supported by Welsh Assembly Government ( Delivering Beyond Boundaries 2006,One Wales Document 2008), areas of work fall into the following community development categories:

  • Children & Young People
  • Community Safety
  • Environment
  • Health & Well Being
  • Skills/ Education/Employment
  • Vulnerable Adults

Core and project staff will develop projects and activities under these headings in partnership with community members. As a result, work undertaken will be more sustainable and productive both individually and collectively.

Training Support Services:

As part of our ongoing services, we will seek to increase training provision to individuals, groups and partner agencies.

The Drop in Centre Development Trust provides training to individuals, groups, partner agencies and members of private sector on a range of subjects related to community development.

Areas of training include :

  • Funding applications
  • Business plans
  • Staff training in community based projects
  • Computer skills

  • Project management and development

Working in partnership with other local services we also provide :

  • Work based placements
  • C.V / job applications support
  • Basic gardening / landscaping skills
  • Welsh classes
  • Volunteering opportunities

The Drop In Centre will hope to build on provision and customised training to statutory and voluntary organisations wishing to establish structures for delivery of community based activity. Funding derived from our training and support services helps to fund many of our projects as well as a number of community events.
